President's Letter
Members of LWEN,
Thank you so much for allowing me the honor to serve as your president this year! It has been such a wonderful opportunity and learning experience. Our organization is truly special because of you – some of the most dynamic, positive, talented and professional women in our area. Together we have grown our express network into an organization bursting with enthusiastic and professional energy, mentorship and support. We have welcomed 32 new members this year and enhanced our organization with new talents, business contacts and friendships.
I would also like to thank my incredible executive board – Debbie Waskow, Lina Lawson, Brandi Ring Cooper, Greta Messarra, Denise Joiner, Debbie Holladay, Geanna Kincanon, Jodi Loveall, Cortney Tenhet, Linda Crenshaw and Desarie Hobbs ‐ 11 of the most dedicated, professional, hard‐working women I have ever had the privilege of working with.
Over the past year, I have learned that there are so many opportunities available to you through your ABWA and LWEN membership, and I encourage you to take your membership to the next level. Attending meetings is just one small part of what LWEN offers you. Get involved. Let ABWA help you enhance your business and leadership skills. Individually you can do great things but there is no limit to what you can achieve learning from each other, supporting one another and embracing all the benefits of your membership.
It has been a sincere privilege serving as your president and I look forward to continuing the many personal and professional friendships and business relationships that I have gained this past year.

President's Letter
It is my distinct honor to serve the Leading Women Express Network as your president. I and the 11 outstanding women of our board are truly excited about the upcoming year. We are eager to work with you to take our Express Network to the next level, to become an even better organization in which our members significantly benefit both personally and professionally, and one that continues to serve as a model Express Network on a national level.
LWEN is only as strong as its members and what they contribute to it. I encourage you to embrace the start of our new year by challenging yourselves and taking advantage of new opportunities to maximize your membership. Network, and really challenge yourself to meet and get to know fellow members; share your expertise and mentor a fellow member; avail yourselves of the online training and professional development courses on ABWA’s new Women’s Instructional Network; attend a regional or national conference; volunteer to serve on a committee such as Network Woman of the Year; and invite and recruit other dynamic women to our organization so they too can benefit from the power of LWEN. If you accept the challenge and utilize just one additional benefit of your membership, it will not only help you realize what ABWA can do for you but also motivate you to achieve your true potential!
Sincerely,
Pam Green

Happy Holidays!
As you are enjoying the season and are busy shopping and setting your New Year goals, don’t forget to consider supporting your fellow LWEN members. As a networking organization, this is an important mission for us. Whether you are looking for jewelry, new window fashions, a new home, help with errands, an auto check up before you travel, pet sitting, a hotel room for a holiday guest or help designing an ad for your business, we have members who would love to assist you. And when you are ready to set your new financial and fitness goals, we have members for that too! J Just check out our member business directory for the names and numbers of your LWEN sisters and support our network.
I look forward to seeing you at our next membership luncheon and program. We have some exciting professional development programs on our schedule so make sure to put the second Wednesday of each month from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at Christopher’s World Grille on your calendar. And don’t forget to invite a guest so you can share ABWA with other incredible women in our community. What a wonderful gift inviting a friend to one of our luncheons can be – a great meal, a great program and an opportunity to meet some of B/CS’ most energetic, positive and talented ladies. I have witnessed many wonderful ladies blossom both professionally and personally as a member of our organization and I encourage you to let LWEN and ABWA help you reach your true potential.
Best wishes for a very happy holiday season and a prosperous new year!
President's Letter
It’s a new year - a time to look forward, set new goals and make our new year’s resolutions. As you start 2010, I hope that you will take advantage of ABWA and LWEN. So often, as busy women, we put off doing things for ourselves. But you are important and your happiness, professional growth and good health can benefit you at home and in the workplace. So make sure to mark your calendars for our meetings; make it a goal to network and develop relationships with our members; sign up for ABWA’s Women’s Instructional Network; set time to read your Women in Business magazine and SkillBuilders newsletters; and try and attend the upcoming District II Regional Conference on March 19 & 20 in The Woodlands. With our regional conference being held in our backyard this spring, this would be a great year for you to take advantage of an ABWA national event.
Wishing you good health, professional success, prosperity and happiness in 2010!

Greetings LWEN,
I hope your 2010 is going well! We have just past the half year mark of LWEN’s year and I hope you are enjoying your membership and taking advantage of many of your ABWA membership benefits. Your board and I are working hard to bring you great professional development programs and opportunities for you to network and promote your business.
We would like to know how we are doing and what other ideas you have to make our organization even better! This month I will be sending out a short survey form to our membership and I hope that you will take a moment to complete it. Your comments are important to us so I hope you will share your thoughts and ideas.
Don’t forget that there are two great networking opportunities this month! First, there is our regular monthly luncheon on Feb. 10 where we will recognize several women of our express network who were nominated by you and also award our Network Woman of the Year. We also have an evening Mardi Gras social on Feb. 15 at the Shipwreck restaurant. Socials are a great time to get to know other members and promote your business. Many friendships and business contacts are made at these events, so we hope to see you twice this month!
March will also be a great month! In addition to LWEN’s luncheon and professional development program on March 10, ABWA’s District II conference will be March 19-20 in The Woodlands! I am excited to hear that many of you are planning to attend the great seminars and benefit more from your national membership.
Thank you for your membership and friendship. Each of you is what makes LWEN such a strong organization! If your board or I can do anything to help you get more from your membership, please let us know!

Pam

Greetings LWEN,
February was a busy month! Our February program was dedicated to honoring members nominated by you as candidates for Network Woman of the Year. This year there were eight ladies were honored – Denise Joiner, Geanna Kincanon, Debbie Holladay, Jodi Loveall, Greta Messarra, Tina Gandy, Cindy May and myself. Congratulations to Cindy May, our 2010 Woman of the Year. Cindy has been a tremendous asset to LWEN and has served us and ABWA in countless ways for many years! We also had an outstanding silent auction where many members generously donated items and set up display to promote their business. It was quite an impressive and creative event.
Many thanks to all who participated and to our organizers, Jodi Loveall and Desarie Hobbs. Due to your generosity, we raised more than $1,000 with proceeds going toward our education fund to assist members in attending ABWA conferences.
In addition to our monthly luncheon, we also celebrated Mardi Gras with a social on Feb. 15 at the Ship Wreck Grill. It was great time getting to know many members better and learning a little more about their business. Many thanks to Desarie Hobbs for organizing this event!
Thank you for all your suggestions and comments on our member survey. Your input is very important to our future growth and your board and I take them very seriously. If at any time you have an idea for a speaker or question or suggestion for our organization, you are welcomed and encouraged to email or call any board member.
March is yet another busy month with a great luncheon meeting on March 13 and with many of us getting ready to attend District Conference in The Woodlands on March 19 & 20. If you aren’t able to make the conference this year, the members attending will be sharing lots of the information with you at a future meeting.
Have a great month!

Dear LWEN,
Our District II conference was great! I am so glad that several of our members were able to make the trip to The Woodlands for an excellent ABWA experience. The conference proved to be a wonderful networking opportunity, a great educational experience and also a time to celebrate!
I am so pleased to announce that LWEN was recognized by ABWA with a newsletter award! Congratulations to Greta Messarra for her talents and efforts in creating our award-winning newsletter!! It was very exciting for LWEN to be awarded this ABWA honor by our national president, Casey Coven. It was also exciting to see our District II Vice President and fellow LWEN member, Tina Gandy at the helm of this important event. Great job, Tina! You are developing into an amazing leader and we are very proud of you! And also congratulations to the B/CS Charter Chapter and our own Debbie Holladay, their newsletter editor, for also winning a newsletter award!
If you weren’t able to make the conference, there are several members who will be sharing conference information, news and some of the great tips they learned at our April meeting and also in our newsletter. I also encourage you to consider attending a future conference. You will meet some incredible women, learn more about the wonderful organization of which you are part of and leave motivated and inspired by what you learn and all the enthusiasm you will absorb. And don’t forget that part of our mission is to help you attend conferences so we will continue to host silent auctions and other activities to help provide financial assistance to members.
In addition to our monthly lunch meeting in April, there are two additional networking events that you don’t want to miss. April 20 is the date of our membership drive and social. Our socials provide you with more time to mingle, promote your business and get to better know fellow members. It is also a perfect time to invite other dynamic women to learn more about LWEN and ABWA. So mark your calendar for this date and be on the lookout for more information soon. On April 21, ABWA is celebrating the first anniversary of the Women’s Instructional Network (WIN) and will be launching a new product, Resumes’ that Get Interviews. You can participate in a free webinar at 6 p.m. and at 7 p.m., there is a virtual networking party where you can promote your business online and possibly win a big prize, including a Dell Vostros Laptop. Log onto WIN for more information, to register and to take advantage of this unique event!
Have a great month!

Dear LWEN,
I would like to begin by congratulating Geanna Kincannon, our Top Ten candidate!

Congratulations also to all that were nominated for positions on our upcoming board of
directors. It was so exciting to have so many talented members express interest in

This month I would like to encourage you to expand your networking potential by logging on to the Women’s Instructional Network (WIN) and completing your profile.
Several members have suggested an enhanced business directory with photos and contact information. This is a great idea that can easily be achieved if all members would take a few minutes to set up their profile page. Then whenever you want to contact a LWEN member or look for a certain service or expertise, all you would need to do is log on to WIN. So come on ladies, let’s start the summer with all members onboard with WIN!
Don’t miss out on this easy and great way to promote yourself and your business.
Have a great month!
